Role of Editors

The roles of editors are critical for ASSHJ to meet its academic standards, rigour, and relevance in publishing high-quality articles for today's world and the future.

The Editor-in-Chief (EiC), who serves as the ultimate decision-maker for the journal's content, editing, website content, advertising, and relationship building, is responsible for ensuring the journal's future direction. The EiC role is a voluntary and unpaid position, and the overall responsibilities include:

• Cooperating with Associate Editors to determine the current and future issues, topics, content, and authors.
• Managing every day publication operations, including the peer-review process, with support from the editorial team.
• Ensuring contributions meet appropriate ethical standards, particularly regarding research with human or animal subjects.
• Addressing issues as they arise, such as plagiarism and verifying articles' originality.
• Facilitating efficient peer-review processes to ensure timely publication.
• Allotting editorial tasks to team members and ensuring timely completion.
• Engaging in content editing to increase quality and accepting or rejecting submissions according to established criteria.
• Engaging in continuous communication with the Editorial team members.
• Coming up with ideas to promote the journal, increase article submissions and citations, and expand readership globally using innovative technologies such as apps, social media, multimedia videos, and others.

The role of the Associate Editor-in-Chief (AEiC) is to assist the Editor-in-Chief in developing strategies, such as selecting journal-related topics and organizing journal issues. This is a voluntary and unpaid position. The general responsibilities of the AEiC include:

• Suggesting future issues, topics, content, and authors.
• Helping the EiC with every day publication operations, particularly the peer-review process, with support from the editorial team.
• Editing journal content.
• Handling issues as they arise, such as plagiarism, and ensuring submitted articles are original, not published, or submitted for publication elsewhere.
• Overseeing the peer-review process to ensure timely article publications.
• Engaging in editing article content to improve quality and accepting or rejecting submissions based on established criteria.
• Engaging in continuous communication with editorial team members and contributors (authors).

The Associate Editors are individuals highly regarded in their field of expertise with the ability to promote the journal's scope and collaboration between research institutions globally. This is a voluntary and unpaid position with the following responsibilities:

• Helping the EiC in determining future journal issues, topics, content, and authors.
• Attracting manuscript contributions from experts on relevant issues and facilitating timely peer review processes.
• Coming up with promotional ideas for the journal to increase article citations.
• Using innovative technological tools like social media platforms, apps, and multimedia videos, as well as implementing strategies to expand readership globally.

Guest Editors are renowned experts in their respective fields, and they serve as volunteers without any compensation. The responsibilities of a Guest Editor include:

• Creating a list of authors to invite for a special series.
• Encouraging other distinguished scholars (PhD holders) and scientists to participate and share their knowledge and expertise in the series.
• Collaborating with the Editors-in-Chief and Associate Editors to supervise the scientific content of the series.
• Coming up with ideas to promote the special series.

An assigned Editor/s in cooperation with EiC is expected to review the manuscripts received:

• to ensure that it meets the journal's scope and standards.
• to edit and review every manuscript after the peer-review process is done.
• to ensure that every manuscript is revised as recommended by the peer reviewers. The Editor will
• to ensure that accepted manuscripts are technically and grammatically sound, meeting the journal formatting style, readable, original, not plagiarised, and other necessary scientific rigour.
